BALTIMORE, MD—On Tuesday July 27 at 7 pm, The Baltimore NAACP will hold a special virtual town hall as part of its monthly general membership meeting. This town hall will focus on sharing information about the increasing dangers of the COVID-19 Delta variant. Panelists will include Adam Abadir, Communications Director for the Baltimore City Health Department, Dr. Niharika Khanna, Professor of Family and Community Medicine at UMB School of Medicine, and Dr. Panagis Galiatsatos, Associate Professor and Clinician at Johns Hopkins Medicine. The public can register and participate in the town hall zoom or they can watch the livestream on Facebook. The media is invited to log in to the zoom meeting. Questions will be accepted at the end of the presentations.

NAACP President Rev. Kobi Little released the following statement:

“We are sounding the alarm about the danger posed by COVID Delta and encouraging everyone to get vaccinated. Vaccination is the best way to stem the tide of the coming COVID Delta surge. We must understand the clear and present danger presented by COVID Delta and protect ourselves before it is too late. Vaccines aren't a perfect solution but they will provide greater protection from hospitalization and death than anything else. It is our hope that by increasing awareness of the threats our community will come together to protect itself.”
